Larry Tripplett, who owns seven McDonald’s restaurants in Santa Clara and San Mateo Counties, received The Children’s Circle Award by the Ronald McDonald House at Stanford, 520 Sand Hill Road in Palo Alto.
Tripplett volunteers with many nonprofits. He served as a past president of the board of directors for the Menlo Park-based Boys & Girls Clubs of the Peninsula and delivers dinner every Friday evening to each person staying at the Ronald McDonald House. This is the second time Tripplett has won The Children’s Circle Award.
The nationwide chain of Ronald McDonald Houses provides accommodations and support for the families of children who are facing life-threatening illnesses. Tripplett, a former high school principal, has also served on the advisory board for the Stanford University School of Education and currently works as a mentor for students at the East Palo Alto Academy High School, a small charter public high school in Menlo Park established by a joint venture of Stanford University, Aspire Public Schools and Ravenswood City School District.
